What’s in a name?
I deliberated over my business name for weeks.
Did I go with “Obsonatus Recruitment”? Obsonatus being the latin word for “Marketing”? I concluded that it sounded borderline obscene, and quickly abandoned.
Did I launch with “Kearney Consulting”? Nope. I decided not to channel my inner Trump.
My partner wanted me to call my business “Konsult”. I told him to shush and put the kettle on.
I considered all angles.
But ultimately, I chose “Marketing Mix Recruitment”, and here’s why…
Firstly, “Marketing Mix” is a phrase only familiar to those working within the Marketing arena. So that tells anybody reading my website or profile that I’m one of you. I’m a Marketer, like you.
Secondly, I felt it conveyed my ability to cover a broad spectrum of roles within a diverse portfolio of Clients, all within (or under) the Marketing umbrella. A real “mix”, if you will.
But thirdly, and maybe most significantly, as you will know if you’re a Marketer, there are 7 P’s within the Marketing Mix…
And one of those Ps is “People”.
And it’s this particular P that is the sole reason I do my job.
It’s this P that fuels my passion.
Working with People, helping People, inspiring and being inspired by People, talking to my People, are all the reasons that “Marketing Mix” exists.
I love Marketing, and I love People.
Pretty straightforward when you think about it.
